We meticulously screen all donor candidates before accepting them into our program. Because of our rigorous process, only a small percentage of applicants meet our high standards. In addition to obtaining a complete medical and personal history, we perform various ovarian function tests, genetic testing, psychological assessments, and screening for infectious diseases and drug use. We also go deep into family history to ensure we know everything there is to know about a prospective donor.
Our comprehensive screening process includes a number of in-depth interviews and visits
Our donors provide an exhaustive history of their families known diseases.
We run our donors through a series of psychological tests to ensure they are mentally fit to be included in our donor pool.
We screen all our donors for any known diseases they may carry, in order for you to have the absolute healthiest of babies
All of our donors must take mandatory drug screening, ensuring the highest qualities donors in our network
Over 301 genetic disorders for which a donor may be a carrier are now screened at BetaPlus Fertility.
We leverage the latest screening and testing methodologies available to us. Recently, we have increased the sophistication of our genetic screening to include processes mostly reserved for women who are undergoing treatment for infertility.
We screen both partners to ensure that no genetic mutation will result from the IVF process. While the clinical consequences of any such genetic disorder ranges from very low to very high risk, we feel that you should have all the facts before proceeding. We screen both partners, male and female, because if the mutation is present on both sides, the potential for the disorder to occur increases.
As it takes considerable time to run, analyze and review the genetic screening results, the only way to provide you with information upon which you can make a decision about choosing any particular donor is to also have the male partner screened as early in the process as possible to see which mutations, if any, he might carry.
It is also important to remember that these genetic screening tests, while highly accurate and reliable reduce risk, unfortunately cannot bring a level of absolute certainty in screening anyone (either the donor or the male partner for genetic mutations.) The only way to have you be ready to match with a donor who has completed her prescreening and is in the donor database ready to be selected is to have the male genetic screening performed and results available in advance.
We've partnered with Invitea to facilitate our early male screening process in the following ways:
We test disorders recommended by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the American College of Medical Genetics (ACMG)
